Shakyō is the act of transcribing Buddhist scriptures.  As you write each character, distractions are cleared away, and the mind gradually settles. 

The “Ji-Kyo-Shitsu” of the Rissei Elementary School, which was for conducting moral and etiquette education, is now recommended to be used as the spacious "Retreat Room," which is equipped with 60 tatami mats.
“Retreat Room” is equipped with shakyō transcription papers that can be used by all visitors. 
Various options can be experienced according to your preference, such as transcribing the entire scripture, casually transcribing portions of the scripture, or experiencing "Picture Transcription" where you can also simultaneously draw images of Buddha. 

Once you have finished transcribing the scripture, if you bring it to the front desk, we will offer it for dedication at "Seishin-in," a temple located near the hotel and where Izumi Shikibu, a renowned poet from the Heian period, served as the first head priest.  Of course, it's also possible to keep it as a memento if you wish.
